G/On Server v 3.4

Software components:

  • G/On Builder – system installation and configuration
  • G/On Admin – for administering users and application connectivity
  • G/Update – stored together with client
  • CX Rules Admin – for managing G/On Zones
  • EMCADS™ Data Management System (EDMS) – a database that stores all information needed to run G/On.

Hardware requirements:

  • USB port version 1.1 for and higher (for server authentication. Optional tokenless support available)
  • Minimum two virtual drive mappings available
  • (e.g. drives E:\ and F:\) above network drives
  • 100MB available hard disk space
  • Min. 1.2GHz Processor
  • Min. 512MB memory for up to 100 users. 2GB memory for a remommended maximum of 500 users per server (more servers can be run in parallel)

Software requirements:

  • Microsoft Windows Server 2003 SP2
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2

  • Microsoft Windows Server 2008 SP1

    *only 32 bit OS versions.

Firewall requirements:

Port 80 TCP set for “Through Traffic” (Default). G/On can be configured for other ports, but port 80 or 3945 must be configured to outbound TCP to allow initial approval and activation of license.

Infrastructure requirements:

For synchronization with the AD, G/On Server must be a full member of the Domain and a Global Security group must be created to hold the users that will be granted G/On Access. The suggested default group name in G/On Builder is EMCADS.

*optional: The G/On configuration can be stored in Microsoft SQL Server

Physical placement:

Depending on the desired level of security, we recommend:

  • Dedicated server hardware for the highest level of security
  • Proxy Server
  • Terminal Server

We advise against installing G/On on other types of servers. Specifically, we recommend never installing on the same server as the AD Server or any Web Server.

   
   

G/On Client

G/On USB

G/On USB is supplied on 128MB (standard size), 256MB, 512MB and 1GB USB keys provided by Giritech. Due to the strict security requirements by Giritech, USB keys from other vendors are not supported and will not work.

Local host PC hardware requirements:

  • USB port version 1.1 and higher (autorun enabled, by default)
  • Min. two virtual drive mappings available (e.g. drives E:\ and F:\) above network drives.

Local host PC software requirements:

  • Microsoft Windows XP SP2 (incl. Hotfix KB884020)
  • Microsoft Windows XP SP3
  • Microsoft Vista

  • Microsoft Vista SP1

    *only 32 bit OS versions

Local host firewall requirements:

  • Port 3945 TCP open for outbound traffic (alternative port number(s) can be configured)

G/On Desktop

Hardware requirements:

  • 40 MB available hard disk space

Software requirements:

  • Microsoft Windows XP SP2 incl. Hotfix KB884020
  • Microsoft Windows XP SP3
  • Microsoft Vista

  • Microsoft Vista SP1

    *only 32 bit OS versions

Firewall requirements:

  • Port 3945 TCP open for outbound traffic (alternative port numbers(s) can be configured)

Connectivity

G/On is a multi-port multi-protocol connector that supports:

• TCP connectivity i.e. RDP (Microsoft) and ICA (CITRIX) for remote desktop and client/server applications i.e. Navision.

• UDP connectivity i.e. streaming media/MAPI connectivity for voice and conferencing applications

G/On has been tested with, and fully supports the following:

  • MetaFrame® Presentation Server Client Version 7.x -8.x running off the Citrix® MetaFrame® Presentation Server Feature Release-3 SP-3 & 4 Standard, Advanced and Enterprise
Microsoft® Windows® Terminal Server 5.2 as part of:
  • Windows 2000 Server® SP4 Standard & Enterprise Editions
  • Windows 2003 Server® SP1 Standard & Enterprise Editions
Browser:

If application uses Microsoft® Active Server Pages®, Microsoft Internet Explorer is required. If application is Java-based, no specific browser is required. Please note that Microsoft® Internet Explorer does not provide out-of-the-box Java support.

Authentication

  • Object-based, mutual two-factor user authentication

Core Technology

G/On is powered by EMCADS™ (Encrypted Multipurpose Content and Application Deployment System) Giritech’s patented core technology. EMCADS™ includes the core server, the EMCADS™ Data Management System, connectivity and encryption services. The core components of EMCADS have been FIPS 140-2 validated (certificate 826).
