Network Consolidation

Using G/On to consolidate your network can dramatically reduce infrastructure costs.

Most companies today use multiple solutions to secure remote access - VPNs, secure tokens, end-point security solutions, Network Access Control (NAC) solutions and so on. This makes their network infrastructure complex, and, as Bruce Schneier pointed out, complexity is the worst enermy of security.

At Giritech, we couldn't agree more. So we take the opposite approach. Instead of having to install multiple solutions to address different parts of the same jigsaw puzzle, we provide an "all-in-one" solution that covers alls angles i.e. G/On.

The other problem with traditional secure access solutions is they don't deal with the problem of "internal" network security. A VPN doesn't stop someone unwittingly carry a worm or a Trojan into the network on their laptop PC. And a secure token won't prevent people carrying data out of the office on a USB key for example.

However, G/On can be used to address this important issue. This is done by using a G/On Server as the single point of access to specific application and data servers, so everyone always connects to these resources via the Internet using their G/On client – regardless of whether they are connecting from home, on the road or in the office.

In other words, the Internet and a G/On Server replace the LAN, WAN, MAN and so on, becoming the only network infrastructure that organizations require. This increases security and flexibility while dramatically lowering costs and complexity.

G/On reduces network complexity

The traditional solution

Traditionally IT departments have bought different solutions from different vendors to overcome each of the 5 challenges. This quickly becomes complex, as shown in the diagram below:

The G/On solution
The network of a company that uses G/On looks like this, which is clearly a lot simpler.

G/On creates value by reducing the complexity of your network. This makes secure access an asset instead of an liability. As can be seen above, G/On can be used to replace:

  • Secure tokens
  • Token Server
  • Certificate Server
  • SSL and IPSec VPN
  • DMZ (& extra servers)
  • Intrusion Detection Solutions (IDS)
  • Identity Management Solutions (IMS)
  • Extra firewalls and/or multi-layer password systems

Consolidating your network in this way translates into real financial benefits.
