Now is the time to migrate to G/On 5!

March , 2010: The new G/On 5.4 lets you go to work on a Windows, Mac or Linux PC. Your choice!

Following the succesful launch of G/On 5 to new customers in October 2009, G/On 5.4 is now offering existing G/On 3.x customers the opportunity to migrate to G/On 5.

Here's why you should migrate from GT/On 3.x to G/On 5:

G/On 5 is an entirely new, significantly more powerful generation of Giritech’s product line. G/On 5 opens up for a whole new world of opportunities for you, for your company and for your G/On users. Your users now have full flexibility to use their preferred Windows, Mac or Linux based PC when they go to work from home. G/On 5 supports all three client platforms.

G/On 5 offers:

  1. The new smart card based G/On USB MicroSmart Token works equally well on Windows, Mac and Linux based PCs.
  2. A new optional feature is to enable users to boot the PC from a hardened Linux operating system image stored on the new USB token. This option, G/On Secure Desktop, turns any PC into a known and managed device.
  3. Challenge/response protocol for authentication based on private/public key pairs.
  4. Integration with Microsoft AD and LDAP compliant user directories
  5. New and much more powerful integration with Citrix via the Citrix XML interface. This provides full transparancy to Citrix failover and load balancing functionality as well as reconnection to disconnected sessions. In addition, G/On 5 provides server side single sign on and a dynamic update of the G/On menu automatically reflecting the published applications in Citrix.
  6. New and much more powerful integration with Microsoft Remote Desktop (RDP) with full support for Microsoft Terminal server farms, server side single sign on and TS 2008 Remote Applications. G/On 5 provides integrated support for TS Broker in Windows Server 2008 and 2008R2 including failover, load balancing and reconnection to disconnected sessions.
  7. Entirely new and more powerful G/Update for software deployment and maintenance of the G/On client applications on tokens and PC.
  8. Integrated Wake-on-LAN functionality providing even more energy savings when users connect from their PC at home to their office PC
  9. Powerful field enrollment tool for large scale deployment of G/On Tokens
  10. New scalable server architecture with G/On Server load balancing and failover
  11. Entirely new management tool with installation and configuration wizards, clear and easy management of user authentication policies and application authorization policies, and integrated reporting. The management server can be accessed via web services for integration into existing management consoles.

Specifically, to ease the migration for G/On 3.x customers, G/On 5.4 includes the following features:

  • Support for Hagiwara H2/H3 tokens (there is no support for H1, 64MB USB keys)
  • End user tools for easy migration of G/On USB H2/H3 tokens from G/On 3.x to G/On 5.
  • Computer User Token to enable the use of a PC as an authentication factor removing the need for USB tokens (what in G/On 3.x is called “G/On Desktop”)
  • User authentication against local users on the G/On server removing the need for Microsoft AD or LDAP user directory
