G/On requires two factors for secure authentication of users. One factor is a physical personal token and the iPad/iPhone is ideal for this purpose. The second factor is your user name and password.G/On's authentication involves:
- Mutual verification between iPad/iPhone and the G/On Server
- Verification of user name and password against the company directory (MS AD or LDAP)
- Verification that the iPad/iPhone is user's personal token
However, this three step authentication of the user is not enough for G/On to allow access. The user must also have authorization to access applications. The G/On Server compiles a menu of authorized applications based on the user's group membership in the directory. The authenticated user only gets access if G/On identifies authorized applications.
